1. HOW DO I SWITCH FROM ANOTHER HOST TO iMatrix?

Just give us a call and we will take care of it for you!

2. HOW DOES iMatrix HOSTING WORK?

When you get a iMatrix Hosting Package, we create space on one of our high-powered Linux servers for your website. We then point the Domain Name you selected to that space. Since we do not provide local dial-up access, our servers are not congested with local inbound dial-up traffic. In fact, having your web site hosted on our machines is better than hosting it at your local ISP since you don't have to relocate your web site or change your e-mail whenever you change providers.

The iMatrix system splits a single high-powered webserver into multiple websites. Each website gets it's own set of virtual services that you may customize to your needs. When a visitor types your domian name into thier browser, the iMatrix system will determine what site to send them to. Every website has it's own configuration files for it's set of services. Also, each website logs hits to your log directory so you can check stats and print out reports.

Each of our webservers are utilized to 50 percent of their capacity. This allows for spikes and peaks in traffic and resource consumption to be handled with ease. The load on the server is closely monitored to have an total hit count of 250,000 to 500,000 hits a day. At this level the load is kept significantly below the capacity of the system. The number of actual websites located on any one server varies according to the amount of traffic those websites generate. If any one site has too much traffic, we will move it to a server with less traffic. If any one website requires the majority of a webservers resources, we will recommend getting a dedicated server.

3. WHAT DOES iMatrix SUPPORT?

We Supprt FrontPage Extensions, MySQL, JSP (Java Server Pages), Java Servlets, ColdFusion, Sub-Domains, and SSH (Telnet).

4. DO YOU BACK-UP YOUR SERVERS?

Our back-up systems are geared only to protect server data in cases of hardware failure. We therefore encourage our customers to maintain backup archives of their websites on their own hard disks. We have 3 technicians monitoring the servers 24 hours a day, 7 days week. Our servers will always be fast, live, and online.

5. WHAT IS CGI/JAVA/JAVASCRIPT?

CGI stands for Common Gateway Interface. CGI programs allow your site to be interactive. In the simplest terms, a CGI accepts input, processes it, and then does something with it. Realistic applications include e-mail forms, guestbooks, or an automatic estimate form. Java is the popular language used for making web applications. Java Applets can perform animations, interact with users, and control site content. JavaScript is a small scripting language that also allows sites to be more dynamic. JavaScript, like CGIs, can gather information about site visitors, control window size and object colors, and more. We are experienced in all three of these exciting technologies, and many more. Contact us for more info and see "our work" for examples.

6. CAN I RESTRICT AREAS OF MY SITE?

Yes. You may want some parts of your site accessible to only certain people. These parts can be password protected, so that only users who know the password can visit.

7. WHAT SPEED IS MY WEBSITE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET?

The iMatrix server center has multiple O12 and OC3 connections to the Internet backbone. This is equal to about 1950 T1 lines. This is fast enough to transfer a 10MB file in under one second. We actually have more internet connections than some local telephone companies. Needless to say, it's pretty fast.
