1st Annual Blood Drive

On Tuesday, August 2, 2011, iMatrix ran our first annual blood drive for the San Diego Blood Bank. The drive was a resounding success and 37 of our 62 employees participated, donating more than 4.5 gallons of blood to those in need throughout the 8-hour work day. Many employees also donated red blood cells in addition to their whole blood donations. The friendly staff from the San Diego Blood Bank informed us that we had one of the highest employee turn-outs they had ever seen from a company blood drive. iMatrix employees were excited to participate together for a cause and the blood bank let us know that we were the most optimistic and upbeat group of volunteers they had ever had the pleasure of working with. This came as no surprise to iMatrix employees, who have participated in many company events to build morale and camaraderie while giving back to the community.

iMatrix first decided to participate in a local blood drive partly in response to a critical blood shortage in San Diego. Each individual donation has the ability to save multiple lives, and the San Diego Blood Bank is responsible for providing blood to more than 30 hospitals in the area in order to save the lives of auto accident victims, surgery patients, and more. After the success of our first blood drive, we decided to make it an annual event!
